They exist in a multitude of Clans, each, at least in that time, were relatively peaceful, fighting battles between each other and descending onto humanity with mere curiosity.  Most Clans existed within, or near, the Spinecrest Mountains in the north, although after learning the basics of some Outer Provincial dialects, they told of many sea-faring Clans that lived upon isles dotting the Omni Sea and perhaps other continents.
    History tells of a great contest held within a city that once laid upon the Ash Dunes, the greatest human warriors against the Warrior Caste of the Syllarian Clans.  The event, held in the ancient metropolis of Cenrea, came to a blood soaked end when the Khan of Khans learned that the Syllarians most sacred stone had been stolen from their mountainous home.  This began the Syllarian War which ripped through the very beginnings of the Central Provinces, the fringe Outer Provinces were left relatively untouched, those with standing armies were devastated.  The Syllarians issued a decree demanding the stone, when it was not delivered within a day, slaughter of every armed defender took place and the creatures moved on.  Although, they did not wantonly slaughter civilians, or attack cities without standing armies.
    When hope was all but lost, the Syllarians turned back to their homeland in the mountains after the city of Cenrea was reduced to the Ash Dunes it now is.  All Syllarian attacks ceased and they were not heard from for many, many years; not until shortly after the Sects made war upon the Central Provinces that is.
    These Syllarians that returned were vile effigies of dark majiks, they were no longer the regal figures of before.  These Syllarians bore a taint, and these Tainted made war upon their brethren and upon humanity.  The Tainted kill and maim for the pleasure, their noble green eyes now burn fiery red and their skin is hideously black and carries a sheen of foul fluid.  They strike in the night, braying with bloodlust, they kill, rape, loot, and then vanish only to return again close by.
    Rumors abound that contact has been made with untainted Syllarians pleading for help against this vile threat.  However, the pleadings have gone unheard to most in the Outer Provinces, though some say the Arbiter has taken notice of their plight.  If the untainted Syllarians are wiped out, what would the Tainted bring to bear upon the Outer Provinces?
